Manama Bahrain has been chosen as one of the safest counties in the world with comparatively low crime rates, according to the latest quality of life index. Bahrain was rated as a safe country with low crime rates by a quality of life index made by Numbeo. Numbeo is the world’s largest database of user-contributed data about cities and countries worldwide. Numbeo provides current information on world living conditions including the cost of living, housing indicators, health care, traffic, crime and pollution. Numbeo revealed several results about Bahrain, based on a total of 1146 entries from the past 18 months from 128 different contributors. In the database, 'Safely walking alone during daylight' was rated 'very high' in Bahrain and 'safely walking alone during night' as 'high'. Crimes including 'home broken and things stolen', 'worries, being mugged or robbed', 'car stolen' were rated as low. Abu Dhabi was rated as the safest city in the Middle East and Africa, and the 25th safest in the world. Numbeo claims that it regarded safety as the second most important in judging quality of life. "We put the second highest importance to safety, since it is more important to feel safe rather than wealthy, in our opinion," they said in a statement. However, the quality of life in Bahrain is hampered by heavy pollution in the Kingdom, according to the index. Air Pollution was described as 'very high' with an index of 87.50 with an air quality that is 'very low'. The entries on drinking water pollution and inaccessibility, dissatisfaction with garbage disposal, dirty and untidy, noise and light pollution, drinking water quality, garbage disposal satisfaction and cleanliness were rated as 'moderate. However, water quality was rated as 'low'. In health care Bahrain was rated high with 'skill and competency of medical staff', 'speed in completing examination and reports', 'equipment for modern diagnosis and treatment', 'accuracy and completeness in filling out reports', 'friendliness and courtesy of the staff', 'satisfaction with responsiveness in medical institutions' and 'satisfaction with cost' receiving a 'very high' rating. Bahrain received an overall quality of life index of 119.05.
